About Himalaya
Himalaya was founded in 1930 in Dehradun by Muhammed Manal, who set out to bring standardised, research-based herbal medicines to modern pharmacies. The company is now headquartered in Bengaluru and trades as Himalaya Wellness. Its first major success, Liv.52, was launched in 1955 and is still one of the best-selling herbal medicines in India. Over time the company has added a large range of single-herb tablets, personal care products and baby care.

Himalaya’s single-herb tablets are a simple way to take one well-known Ayurvedic herb in a measured dose. Its proprietary medicines, such as Liv.52 or Cystone, are multi-herb blends with their own composition. Many Himalaya medicines come in more than one form, for example tablets and syrup, so check which form your doctor or practitioner has suggested. Read more in our guides to liver care and baby care.
How to check a genuine Himalaya pack
- The manufacturer's name and address, and a drug manufacturing licence number
- A batch number, manufacturing date and expiry date printed (not handwritten) on the pack
- An intact seal, cap or blister, and the MRP printed on the pack
- The full composition and directions for use
If anything looks altered, smudged or missing, do not use the product. Our checklist on how to read an Ayurvedic medicine label explains each point.
Buying Himalaya products retail or wholesale
You can order single packs, or packs of two and three at a lower price per unit, from our Himalaya collection. Pharmacies, clinics and resellers can send a product list for wholesale rates; our wholesale buying guide explains how it works.
Our recommendation
Choose the Himalaya product your doctor or Ayurvedic practitioner has named, check the pack details above, follow the label dose and buy sealed packs with a long expiry from a GST-registered seller.
